  1. Much as I respect Bart’s knowledge and expertise,I have to disagree a bit with one thing that he assumed regarding the iMac size. Some of us may be able to buy/afford the larger iMac but don’t have desk space. My desk is fairly small (reflecting the room space I have for it), and it has a hutch at the back, giving me some much-needed extra storage space. The “hole” that remains for my computer is simply not large enough for the 27″ iMac! I will — when the time comes — get the 21.5″ iMac, since it will fit.

In addition, I’m 5’2″ tall. The 27″ iMac would make me crane my neck painfully in order to see the top of the screen, where the menu bar resides. Even if my desk were larger, I can’t adjust my seating to avoid this, unless my feet no longer touch the floor, which isn’t a good solution.

I do wish the 21.5″ iMac would allow access to the RAM for easy upgrading, and I wish there were other options for making it more powerful, but that’s life. The physical limitations both because of my desk and my size make the 21.5″ iMac the best choice for me. I suspect I’m not alone.
