Mac Roundtable 2008.03.10 Episode #35

Lots of new releases from Apple since the last show and some of the crew have taken delivery of some new toys! In this show we examine the MacBook Air and the new MacBook Pro with perhaps some different views from different angles. We also chat about the new Time Capsule, our early experiences with the device and where it fits in to your networking/backup strategy.

And of course, the release of the iPhone SDK has got us all very excited about future developments.

This week’s hosts include:

Don McAllister: ScreenCasts Online
David Sparks: MacSparky
Katie Floyd: The MacCore
Steve Stanger: The Mac Attack
Victor Cajiao: The Typical Mac User Podcast

  1. Before the emails and comments start coming in – During the show I referred to the Air’s casing being plastic. It is anodized aluminum, which Don does correct me on during the show. (I also like hearing how my English friends say aluminum). 🙂

Maybe Apple is using some kind of coating on the aluminum that gives it the feel of plastic? I’m looking in to that. But I still feel the Air’s that I have come across just seemed not to of been manufactured to well.

  2. To try and deflect some of the heat from Steve 😉 I would also like to correct my statement about the price differential between the standard MBA and the SSD MBA.

    It’s only (ONLY!) Ã?£700 difference ($1400 USD) not Ã?£1000.

Still not worth the difference in price in my opinion.

By the way Steve, grease my palm with silver and next time I can edit any contentious bits out 🙂

  3. Steve… Get a grip. It’s aluminum, plain and simple. You’re equating lightness to cheapness.

  4. This is my “Mia Culpa” for any mistakes I may have made during the show. I’m sure I did so as long as the comments are a confessional I might as well do what I’ve always done, just do the “Mia Culpa”

  5. Actually Victor … its “mea” culpa. Mia Culpa was my girlfriends name 20 years ago. Wink.

    Leave it to the lawyer.

  9. Maybe you should introduce the members of the show before jumping right into the conversation? I had to come him to see who all was on. Good show otherwise.
