As Allison and others noted, TAGS are a lot of work without a lot of return. Spotlight searches file names and file contents.
There’s no certainty that a TAG system will translate across platforms.
But hard coded names will. There’s a great OS X program to bulk name files. NAME MANGLER. Look on PodFeet #189 where I reviewed Name Mangler, and where Allison posted a tutorial done in her favorite Screensteps.
The BIG SECRET is that if you name a folder and drag it onto the iPhoto icon on the Dock, iPhoto will import the folder as an event. Even better if you’ve named the files in the folder as Name Mangler makes easy.
There’s a different trick for Aperture, also discussed in my tutorial. But the end is the same. Drag a named folder into Aperture, and Aperture uses it to create a named workflow.
Give your files (Excel, Word, Photos, whatever, good names and tags are just surplus, extra work.

spotlight tags is one of the many reasons why i use a great app on all my Mac…Default Folder X. I use it some much now when I work on others machines (Friends who i often help) I end up selling them on it!

Hi
I was just listening to the podcast and you were talking about the LED display and about it’s true color.
As a knowledge about LED displays is that they are very sensitive to temperature changes and if they show the correct color.
So to say is that when you calibrate your monitor you get great result but as soon the temperature changes like being on for a long time or it get turned of or goes to sleep. the temperature changes and you lose the color correctness. This is also true to back lit monitors but not in the same extent as the LED.
I had a long talk about this with one of my friends that is a “guru” in the field and he do not recomend a LED as a color true monitor.
If this is of importance go for a monitor like ColorEdge CG245W that have a built in calibrator and is a much more color correct screen. With this i think you land in about 1500-2000dollars so it is on the pricy side.

Regarding tags, I find a lot of value with my aircraft photos. Naming the project/roll by the time and or location is fine, but doesn’t help me find all my photos of 747s. Especially if there is more than one aircraft type in a photo. I also add a tag for the airport/airfield. At this point, given the date is in the EXIF data, the file, folder or project names are often immaterial.

I’m planning to start my own blog in the near future but I’m having a difficult time selecting between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.
The reason I ask is because your design seems different then
most blogs and I’m looking for something unique.
