Welcome back to Episode 22 of the Mac Roundtable
We finally got around to recording a new episode and Joseph has added a new Jr. Podcaster to his staff. In this episode we ask Apple, “Where’s our stuff”? Why has there been such a lull in the release of new Apple products? Has Leopard development and the iPhone consumed all of Apple’s resources? Steve Jobs has entered the world of espionage and is using his bag-o-tricks to catch rumor site tipsters. Why are we so obsessed with Mac rumors and why are they always so inaccurate? Does Apple really control the spin? Google and Apple are building a beautiful relationship together and Mac fans are likely to benefit. With a new approved spec coming into play are downloadable and burnable movies and TV shows in iTunes’ future? Plus, our neat Mac stuff.

How come you published this roundtable one month late? Or could it be that it should have been named Mac Roundtable 2007.03.07 – 022?

Tut,
Wrong date on the original post. It looks like it’s fixed now.

I thought your discussion on .Mac and Google was interesting. I believe .Mac is going to retire soon, and it is for the same reason Apple doesn’t compete with Photoshop.
And I think that Apple will be coming out with a new iBook (yes, iBook, not MacBook) that will largely be to use Google’s offerings.

Gentlemen, a great show. I want to tell you all how much I appreciate the way you support the small mom and pop Apple retailers. I live in a town with Apple Store, Comp USA (Which I will never use, used once for imac G3 333mhz purchased-horrible), and a small retailer. Out of all of those stores I have received the best service from the small retailer. I also want to say that I am in no hurry for Apple to release new products. Yes it is fun and cool, but think about this: Do you know everything about your current products and what they can do. For example I just learned about Xgrid. You probably already know about it and I should have I have been a devoted Apple Geek since system 7 and my Powerbook 3400 (I think that’s what it was. I also had an earlier one but can’t remember). I am beginning to believe that all this new hipe about more and more switchers is not such a good thing. I personally see the lack of quality in products. I would much rather pay a little more and get the same quality as in earlier models. Ok, I will stop now. Just sometimes I get going. Thanks for the great show and discussions. Look forward to all of your podcasts.
Thanks
Willie

I live in mid-coast Maine. We used to have an Apple reseller. She went out of business and said it was because Apple screwed her over in terms of prices. It was great having a reseller because the closest Apple Store is Boston, 4 hours away. There’s lots of Mac users around here and sure wish Apple would open a store in Portland!
Love your show… wish you could be more regular in bringing it out.
