I think you guys are a bit out of touch regarding Victor’s hesitation for purchasing his new MacPro.
Just to be clear – I agree that sitting around procrastinating at purchase time in general is not in anyone’s best interest. I deal with this mindset all the time when people ask me about potential electronics purchases, mainly TV’s.
As far as Macs, purchasing $1500 MacBooks and iMacs is not the same as dropping $4-$5K on a new MacPro, especially when it is being used in some sort of professional production environment *and* new technology is imminent. I’m referring to something major like Thunderbolt. Besides this – most pros who depend on MacPros expect longevity. Victor has his for the good part of 5 years. Mine is 5 years old as well. Any one of you guy’s using a 5 year old MacBook or iMac? I doubt it ;).
My point is I agree … if you have the money and are a typical user, buy what is available and enjoy it. It’s not that simple when it comes to spending big $$ on a machine that is used in a very different way compared to much more affordable iMacs and portables.
I know for a fact there are a ton of Pro’s out there with money in hand waiting for apple to add Thunderbolt support to MacPro’s.

I thought it only fair that I let you guys know that I went off on a bit of a rant tonight on MacOSKen Live, about the criticism of Apple re WWDC. Specifically, Ken had published an interview with a developer on Day 6, that did an excellent job of explaining what developers get, and how WWDC works. I congratulated him on doing the work to find out that info before – or instead, of being critical of Apple on this.
Mostly I love the podcast – just would like it if podcasters would have a bit more knowledge of how large corporations work, and or do their homework, before being critical, rather than always saying, in effect, “they’re only doing that to make more money!” Or for marketing purposes, or whatever. If you have real evidence of those claims, then by all means go for it. If not…..

Apple is limiting WWDC’s growth on purpose. They’re keeping tight control over the number of attendees because one of the hallmarks of WWDC is the amount of “face time” (pardon the pun) that attendees get with Apple engineers and other staff. They can’t guarantee such good quality time if the attendance suddenly swells to over 9000.

Re AppleCare – I’ve bought AppleCare through Amazon resellers for years now. For the first time, I got the “we need proof of purchase” when attempting to register AppleCare for an iPhone 4 I just purchased. I sent them the invoice from Amazon, and after a few days I got an email back from Apple saying that my proof of purchase was sufficient and that they accepted my AppleCare registration.
Oddly enough, I also purchased AppleCare for my new iPad from the same seller, and that registered just fine with no complaint.

Just listened to your podcast this morning, and wanted to reply to the comment made about AppleWorks not being able to run on the latest versions of Mac OS X.
Here is a screen shot of my 27″ iMac running Mac OS X version 10.6.6 and AppleWorks.
